    FAQs

What do I need to bring?2017-05-30T23:57:32+00:00

Please remember that space is limited but that you will need certain items for an enjoyable day.  Sunscreen is HIGHLY recommended even though there is covering on the boat, like hats, sunglasses and clothing to keep you safe from the sun.  We will have water and other drinks on the boat but if you have a favorite snack or want extra water please feel free to bring it.  We have a cooler on the boat.  You will also most likely  want to take home pictures of your catch so bring a camera etc.  If it is raining you may want your rain gear to keep you dry.  We have snorkel gear but if you have your own please bring it along along with towels if you plan to jump off the boat for some swimming!

What does the tour price include?2017-06-15T15:40:22+00:00

Our prices are per trip so if you want to fish alone it is still the same price.  We also supply ice, water, and other light refreshments on the boat for you.  Let us know if you need/want something special like some beer or diet drinks. Included also is the bait, tackle, fishing license, cleaning of fish,  and snorkeling and fishing gear.

How do I pay on the beach?2017-05-29T18:18:46+00:00

We can accept US cash or pesos if you have not already paid through PayPal.  We only accept dollars in PayPal (NO PESOS).  We will use the current bank exchange rates if you want to pay in pesos, no problem.  We DO NOT accept credit cards on the beach, if you plan to pay with Credit Card you must pay in advance.

Do you only use ‘Catch and Release’ practices?2017-05-29T18:14:30+00:00

We always suggest that fishing is a sport and that you only keep fish if you plan to eat them, but there are some fish that can only be caught ‘catch and release’ like Sailfish and Marlin. We do our best to allow you to take a picture of the fish before we release it but sometimes it may be necessary to release the fish without bringing it into the boat first.

What type of fish might I catch?2017-05-29T18:30:09+00:00

Dependent on the season we are able to catch Sailfish and Marlin (catch and release), Mahi-Mahi, Kingfish, Tuna, Wahoo, Barracuda and Pork Fish  are some of the most common.

We can never guarantee any catch or a specific fish but we will do our best to make sure that you have access to what it is your are looking for.   The captain will help you with what the best fishing possibilities are each day.

What if it the weather is bad?2017-05-29T18:43:32+00:00

We have many ways in which you can contact us so if you have weather concerns we ask that you do your best to call and ask about your trip.  If we learn that it is not safe to go out in a small boat on the day of your trip we will do our best to let you know before you arrive at the beach.  This is not always possible as often we don’t know that we cannot go out until we are already on the beach.  Please let us know where you are staying and/or how we can reach you while you are in the area so just in case we can leave you a message.  We will do our best to reschedule your trip or  we will reimburse your reservation deposit.

Is there dry storage on the boat?2017-05-30T23:43:40+00:00

We have some dry storage but not a lot.  Please only bring on board what is necessary for your trip.  We cannot guarantee that your items won’t get wet, so be careful to use dry bags with your cel phones, cameras and other water sensitive items.

How do we get onto the boat?2017-06-15T15:41:37+00:00

We access the boat via the beach so be prepared to walk through some water.  Our crew will help you get on and off the boat and if needed carry your gear for you.  In Playa we don’t have piers so all boats are easy to board from the water.  If you need any special help, just ask us and we will do our best to make this as easy as possible for you.

When does the boat leave for the tour?2017-05-31T00:05:55+00:00

Departure times are early in the morning and around noon (upon availability). We are flexible with departure time and will try to adjust to your preferred schedule just let us know your specific needs so we can make sure you get the trip you want.  Leaving in the morning is the BEST time for fishing and for smoother waters so please keep that in mind.  Please make sure you have our phone numbers so that in case you have problems getting to the beach we can be prepared for you when you arrive.

How do I find the boat?2017-05-30T23:38:43+00:00

Departure is from ‘PLACE LOCATION’ on Coco Beach Playa del Carmen,  (see map under Reservations). Most taxi drivers are aware of Coco Beach if you tell them or we are just to the south of Canibal Real (restaurant/bar on the beach and close to The Reef Hotel). You can also find our location on Google Maps by entering ‘Fishing Al Gusto, Playa del Carmen, México’.

    How do I make a reservation?2017-06-15T15:39:09+00:00

Please go to our Reservations Tab at the top of our Home Page and click.  Be sure to put in your desired dates in order of preference. Please let us know of any special needs you might have (i.e. desired drink and food etc.) via the comments box.   We will get back to you via email or if you give us your phone number we may call you with any questions or concerns.  We can accept your credit card for reservations through PayPal or if you are currently in Playa just let us know and we can work out the arrangements.  We will notify you once your reservation is completed.  Feel free to contact us via phone or email with your questions or concerns.

What if I want a trip tomorrow or this week?2017-05-29T17:58:54+00:00

We have a phone number in Playa that you can use to contact us for available tours.  You can always still use the US phone # to text questions or use the internet to contact us.  Please be sure to give us a way to be in touch with you.  You can also come down to Coco Beach in the mornings and ask for Pancho.  Most of the locals there will know how to be in touch with him and we will do our best to get a trip going for you.
